Aliens: Fireteam Elite is a 3P coop shooter in the vein of Left 4 Dead

The release date for Aliens: Fireteam Elite has just been announced.

Available on August 24th in PlayStation, XBOX, and PC (via Steam), the new game continues the franchise with an action-packed coop shooter that borrows heavily from games like Left 4 Dead.

Standing in for the hordes of undead are Xenomorphs of all kinds, synthezoids, and other outer space elements. Where the previous games like Alien: Isolation took heart from the Ridley Scott original, this one seems to be taking from James Cameron’s widely beloved cult classic, Aliens.

Pre-orders are available now starting at $39.99. The base game has four story-driven campaigns, characters (Colonial Marines) with customizable looks, and other perks. There’s a ‘deluxe edition’ too, which comes with a bunch of cosmetic DLC bundles.

Those who pre-order the game get a Hardened Marine Pack, which includes additional cosmetics, including a “Chestburster” emote that obviously references the iconic scene from Alien.
