RX10 IV test shot

The Sony RX10 IV firmware update is created for animal photographers

Sony’s RX10 IV firmware update allows the camera to track both human and animal subjects.

Through its AI driven Real-Time Eye AF technology, the camera can now track not just human eyes, but even animal eyes as well. This function can be used by half pressing the shutter trigger, allowing users to get perfectly focused animal images.

This nifty feature is perfect for nature and animal photography enthusiasts. Or if you simply like taking pictures of your pet cat.

However, the fine print says that “it is not possible to detect simultaneously human and animal eyes”.

Eye detection would also depend on the environment where you’re taking the photo, animal type or the movement of the animal.

Animal eye tracking also works only for stills.
